I wasn't alone, of course. There was quite a crowd. Parents, grandparents (we are the best), other relatives, and all the other kids from the school. Including some of the Y chromosome football players who spent the entire game wearing nothing but gym shorts. Both Junior & Senior guys. They had painted letters on their chests. When lined up, they spelled out either "Junior" or "Senior". Folks, it was in the 30's last night. There was a bit of a breeze going on which made it seem even colder. You have to give these boys marks for remaining undressed the whole game. I tried to get a picture of them but they were too fast for me. One guy had on a really cool golden eagle mask. It was more than a mask, really. It covered his whole head and looked to be made of gold lame or spandex. I liked it. At least his face stayed warm. None of them wussed out and put on a jacket. I'm sure their mothers were thrilled at the sight of their babies letting it all hang out in the cold.

Olivia was beyond excited. It was good to see her happy and glowing. She loves playing football of any sort. I don't know what she's point out to Andrea. Most of the girls wore shorts. Thank goodness Olivia had the good sense to wear some warm tights. She got in some good play time. She even made a touchdown but it was called back because she stiff-armed a player. Phyllis called this "trucking". I don't think I ever heard that expression before. There isn't supposed to be any tackling in flag football. The rugby girls had a hard time with that. LOL I know Olivia wasn't even aware that she had stuck her arm out. It just went there out of habit and years of playing regular football and rugby. In case you don't know what stiff-arming or trucking is, here is a rugby picture:

There were some other events during the week that I was too lazy to write about. I should be more diligent in blogging but I'm not. I sort of write when the mood strikes.
Shannon celebrated her 24th birthday Tuesday, October 21. I can't believe she's hitting her mid-20's. It seems only last week, I held that little thing in my arms and welcomed her into the world. The older I get, the faster the years go. Phyllis & I gave her a gift certificate for a massage. Always a good thing to have. I knitted a scarf for her and gave it to her on Saturday. Just in time for this cold weather. We were going to take her out to eat at Tokyo Gardens but Mike, her boyfriend, took her down to King of Prussia to a different Japanese steak house. Last year, we all went to Red Lobster.
Saturday, Oct. 18, the Garland clan and the Clark/Gamble clans moseyed their way down to Middletown, DE. And may I say thank goodness for the GPS gadgets. We might never have gotten there otherwise. LOL Jenn, Gregg & kids moved back to the East Coast in the spring and built a new house. They had a combination housewarming/Penn State party. As usual, it was great. I was so happy to see them. Also, Gregg's side of the family. Mom Beverly, his sisters Terri & Lynda, brother Jeff, BIL Ray and many, many kids. The kids were from all the families. Lots of good food courtesy of Pat's Pizza. And, naturally, a good football game to view on their super duper plasma tv that hangs on the wall like a picture. They had the wall pre-wired so that there are no ugly wires hanging down. The picture was awesome and Penn won. Which made the day for all the alumni scattered around the living room. I would post pictures but stupid me forgot to grab the camera on my way out the door. Dadgumit!
So, that's what's been going on in my world recently. I have been knitting a lot. I made Shannon's scarf and I made one for granddaughter-in-law Jessica. At the same time. Now, I'm working on a gray watch cap to send to The Ship's Project. I'd like to make more of these. They go fairly quickly. I'm not a fast knitter and wish I'd learned the Continental method years ago when I was young. Oh well. The other thing I'm knitting is a black/red soap holder for Olivia. In case you haven't figured it out from the above picture, those are her school colors. I got some cotton yarn from Lion Brand because I wanted to try it. I've always used Lily's Sugar & Cream cotton for dishcloths and things like the soap holder. The Lion Brand is nice, but I believe I prefer Lily. Not to mention I have enough LB yarn to last a long time. Lots of dishcloths coming up.
After those are done, I want to make another pair of fingerless mittens for Amy. And Olivia wants a scarf and hat done in Knightmare rugby colors. Green/black. I need to pedal faster.
