I can't believe it's been so long since I blogged. I just haven't been in the mood to write, I guess. Which is why I'm not a best-selling author. LOL
I can't remember all the stuff that's happened, so I won't bore you with it. A few birthdays here and there. My oldest baby, Phyllis, turned (cough, cough, mumble)on May 7. I don't mind revealing her age but that would reveal mine. Uh uh.
Miss Sophie Brielle celebrated her 2nd birthday in style with a good many family members present. She really got into the paper tearing part. Also tossing out wads of tissue from gift bags to get down to the good stuff. She had the cutest face every time she pulled out another goodie. Hard to describe it. She looked surprised and awe-struck all in the same face. None of my pictures captured it.
Mother's Day was lovely. I was invited to Phil & Amy's for a scrumptious meal. The grand finale was a stunningly beautiful trifle. It tasted even better than it looked. Amy has one of those trifle dishes that really showcase whatever is put in them. I knew Mutt & Grace (Phil's mom & step-dad) would be there. We've been celebrating Mother's Day & Father's Day together since the kids have been grown.
A nice surprise was step-son Chris showing up. It's always a delight to see him. Kim & Derrick came by with Sophie to give us Mother's Day cards. They couldn't stay long because Derrick had to be at work at 4pm. A last nice surprise was when Lisa of Lititz showed up. A friend of her brought her down as she wasn't supposed to be driving yet after her lumpectomy.
I've been to several rugby games. One was in the rain. Fortunately, a dad had set up his canopy and invited us to share it. I went to Lowe's the next day and purchased my own canopy. In my favorite color of red. I didn't plan it that way. I thought they only came in blue or green. The girls didn't make the semi-finals but we were the hosts. So, the call went out for canopys. I took mine over on Saturday so some dads could take it up the hill and set it up. They used it for the refs. It was a gorgeous day, but windy. I didn't go since it was on Mother's Day and I was elsewhere as stated above.
I have been a crocheting fool these past weeks. I made 12 market bags of various patterns. Then, I decided to try my hand at coasters, potholders and hot pads with leftover cotton yarn. All from freebie patterns on the Internet. Some instructions were very good and some required getting into the mind of the creator. Some I just gave up on and ripped out for another go with a different pattern. I'm using one of the coasters here at my computer to set my coffee on. And other drinks thru the day. But mainly the early morning coffee. I have a tendency to slop it around for some reason.
That's about it from my little corner of the world. Since today is Memorial Day, I want to take the opportunity to thank our folks in uniform for their service and sacrifices. And I want to honor those who have given their lives to keep us all free. Salutes to you all.
