Beginnings & Endings

I'm happy to announce the birth of Brady Rober Garland on November 1. I am in love, of course. He is as cute as any baby has a right to be. Mom and Dad came through fine even tho they were pretty tired the next day. Which happened to be their 5th wedding anniversary. Talk about timing. What a lovey present Master Brady is.

Two things have ended since my last blog. First, Olivia's Blaze softball team played their last tournament of the year. And not a moment too soon as it was pretty darned cold to be watching softball in football weather. At least, it wasn't raining. We went to Shippensburgh, PA for the tournament. We had a deluge of rain from Thursday night thru early Saturday morning. Because the playing field was soaked, that day's play was postponed till Sunday. Then, they curtailed each game to 1:15 hrs in order to fit the whole of them in. It was worth being chilled in the long run as Olivia's team won the whole shebang. Softball is now done till spring.

Hempfield High School had their last games Friday and Saturday. Varsity on Friday night. JV on Saturday morning. It was darned cold! We were bundled up to our noses. How exciting that Olivia got to play in part of the 3rd quarter and all of the 4th. First time in the whole season. Usually, the coach would put her in for a play or 3 near the end of the 4th quarter. I am happy to say that she acquitted herself quite well. Made several tackles with her patented Olivia swinging vine tackle. Still brings 'em down. She was one happy football player that day. I do believe she earned the coaches respect during the season. She might have been knocked down and run over more than once, but she always bounced back up for more and gave as good as she got. Without crying and whining, I might add. In this picture, she is on the far right side. By the referee.
