Super Bowl Sunday

Well, January 2008 has come and gone. I missed most of it due to whatever long-named disease it was that I had. I am not sorry to see the disease pass into history. I am sorry that January was such a bust. Oh well. At least, I am still alive to tell the tale.

Exciting doings in my family these days. I had a phone call from the Maple Valley, WA contingent last week. DD Jenn, to be precise. The great good news is that they are moving back east and will be within range of family doings once more. I have missed them mightily each day they've been gone 3000 miles away. SIL, Gregg, takes up his position at his new job on Feb. 25. Which means they are scurrying around like ants in a kicked up hill getting ready for the move. Even tho the company is taking care of the move, there are tons of things that only they can do. Plus they are leaving Feb 15 to head out for Orlando and a 7-day Caribbean cruise on Mariner of the Seas. As a transition from one end of the country to another. Plus the culture shock. LOL Yeah. That's a good enough excuse for a cruise in the middle of winter.

The other exciting thing I've already written about. The birth on Jan. 12 of Elijah Jay. Due to my illness, I was unable to rush off to meet him. I thought I'd never pry pictures out of anybody. But, daddy Mike finally sent me the ones I posted last month. Yesterday, the new little family were visiting with Uncle Phil & Aunt Amy. Amy called me just as I was starting my shopping expedition at Walmart. I was hoping they'd be there when I was done. They were. Unfortunately for me, I was in such a hurry to get over there that I forgot a few essential items. Like bread. Oh well. It was worth it.

When I got there, Amy had a huge cup of hot tea ready for me. Boy, did that hit the spot! It was black tea and very tasty. I hadn't eaten all day and had planned to beg for a sandwich. She had made up a delicious chicken/pasta soup for their Super Bowl party today. She graciously gave me a big cup of it. TG for those mega-sized Starbucks mugs. I don't think they sell those anymore. They are great for soups and other messy to eat things. And tea. BTW, Amy is a really good comfort food cook, IMNSHO.

I had barely gotten hold of Elijah when he gave me some lovely wide open grins. Is there anything more wonderful that a baby's smile. Unless it's a laugh. He's not up to that yet, but I'm willing to have him smile at me any old time. I wanted to have a picture taken of me holding the two baby boys. 3 week old Elijah and 3 month old Brady. When Mike was born, his cousin, Jason, was born 36 hours alter on the same weekend. I have a picture somewhere of me holding the 2 of them. One in each arm and a silly grin on my face. My first grandchildren. Elijah is my first great-grandson and Brady is the last grandson. I wanted to put both pictures here but can't find the old one. All I can say is that 27 years really makes a difference in a person. LOL

And, so, here is the picture of me & the boys:

Aren't those babies just wonderful! I would have rushed through the store as well. Glad to hear you are feeling better as well. Keep up the dishcloths--and I don't know if my wool ban is permanent or not. But I laughed at your suggestion of gloves, because you are about the third person to suggest that. Knitters understand!
