Idle Chatter

Nothing special going on this week. The weather is making the transition from winter to spring and having a hard time of it. I heard it snowed in the Seattle, WA area. I have my fingers crossed that won't happen in SE PA. Today is almost 60°F. Rainy and dark. A typical spring day, I think. One day clear as crystal, the next looking murky.

I went down to Westminster, MD with Phyllis on Sunday to attend Olivia's rugby game against the West Carroll Marauders. The Knightmares (our girls) were nervous because they were beaten badly by this team last year and remembered them as enormous. Well, the Marauders had the bad luck of losing nearly all of their starters to graduation. 12 girls in all. They are in the transition of building a new team now. Happens in all scholastic sports. Here are the results of the 2 games. The B game was sad. Our girls pretty much had their way in the whole game. I don't like lopsided scores like that:

A"
Knightmares 22 - Marauders 5
Carly Hallowell 10
Olivia Shelby 5
Sara Glick 5
Payce Madden 2
"B"
Knightmares 52 - Marauders 0
(this could take a while)
Ashton Stauffer 5
Paige Murray 5
Kiersten Seaburg
Maddy Sova 7
Maria Heckenberger 15
Nicole Inslee 5
Olivia Shelby 5
Kelly Sager 5
I would like to thank the West Carroll parents for the yummy food. I like the idea of the social after the games. More sports ought to do this.

I am still knitting away on my first sock. I started turning the heel Saturday night. I was a bit confused and it didn't look right after I had worked up a bit. I didn't want to work on it at the game as it was requiring my full attention. So, I took along a baby cap to work on. My 4th one, BTW. Sunday night, I decided to rip out all the way back to where I'd started the heel turn and pay closer attention to the instructions. Also, I understood better what I was doing and what it was supposed to look like. I learn better from visual than reading. Also from my mistakes. LOL

I'm glad I did the frogging as it went much more smoothly. Now, I'm about halfway down the foot toward the toe. I can sure see why anybody would want to knit both socks at once. I have to do all this again! I got a book on knitting 2 socks at once on the long circulars. I'm going to try that next. I'm really enjoying learning all these new methods.

It sure did snow out here. Just blew us all away! Still cold and the mountains are still getting snow.

I hear you on the ripping out. I do it all the time. I think it does help get a technique down pat if you do it a few times in a row. That's what I keep telling myself. LOL.

BTW, the book comes out in May 2009. But I have another one in between, out this September.

Good luck on the heel and I can't wait to see it.
