The Fat Lady Sang

And there is no joy in Mudville. The final game in the battle for first place in the state finals has been fought. Alas, the final score was Hempfield Knighmares 12 - State College - 19. Our girls lost by one try. Lots of tears were shed when they came off the field. Each girl feeling it was her fault they lost. But they are still winners. Coming from 16th in the state last year to 3rd this year. And to be unbeaten within their district? Quite an accomplishment and stats they should be proud of. I know I am proud of the effort and dedication each girl has put into the team effort. And proud of the coaches, Joe Capp and Dave Woerner. Amazing men.

There were 3 fields in action for most of the day. 2 ambulance were kept by the main tent. Unfortunately, they were needed more than once. Since I've been going to matches, I've not seen so many girls have to taken to the hospital by ambulance. Yesterday, there were 3 that I know of. Nicole got knocked out .Her father wasn't there as he had to work. My DD Phyllis went with Nicole to the hospital. Another girl got hit in the jaw before the first ambulance barely pulled away. A player was running with the ball when this player tried to tackle the first one. Unfortunately, she made contact with the first girl's elbow. A third girl was being taken off to the ambulance as we were leaving. She was playing on a different game and I never found out what happened. My fingers are crossed that all he girls are OK this morning. Olivia has her usual assortment of bruises.

The good news is that Big O is free to play in softball tournaments now. So, I can exchange my rugby hat for my fast pitch softball one. Whatever am I going to do when she graduates and goes away. Fortunately, I have Gregory playing lacrosse. I'll be happy to sit sidelines and watch him play. Austin and Brady are right behind him. So, it looks like I'll keep having sports to attend for the foreseeable time

Saturday was a great day even if it was chilly. We've gotten used to being cold at outdoor events. We had a 50th birthday party/family get together at the Mountville park. Even tho it was a bit cloudy/cool when we first got there, the sun finally came out around 4 and felt very good. We had lots of good food. The cake from The Cake Creators in Mountville turned out beautifully and was delicious as it always is.

Cookeemama, sorry about Mudville, but HUZZAH to your granddaughter for fighting to the bitter end. That's AWESOME! It's tough to lose, but hey, there will be another day and just THINK how well they're going to do next year!

Hugs to you and your fam and especially your rugby player extraordinaire!
