It’s a shame that the young don’t appreciate their boundless energy. Those of us who are in our mature years certainly would. Unfortunately, most of us no longer have that energy. Let alone the boundless part. I couldn’t bound if a gun was pointed at me. Oh well. Such is life.

Yesterday was one of those chauffeuring days. Olivia’s foot surgery is next week and you know how much pre-op stuff there is beforehand. We went by the Dr’s office so that she could leave papers for them to sign and fax to the surgeon’s office. Then, we went over to the Lancaster General Health Campus so Miss O could run into the lab and leave a bit of blood.

That took a bit longer than I thought it would. We were supposed to pick Phyllis up downtown at 4:30 but O didn’t come out of the lab till 4:35. We raced downtown to get Phyllis. She was waiting outside for us. Then, we boogied on down to Willow Street to the dentist. Both of them had appointments.

Whew! It was a good thing I had my knitting and a book along. I never leave home w/o something to read or do. Preferably both. I’m working on a pair of fingerless mittens in a lovely dark brown. They have cables in them. Not many. Just enough to make them interesting. I’ve misplace both my cable holders. So, I hauled out a double pointed needle. I was afraid the stitches would fall off but they didn’t. I just have to go slow no matter what I use.

Luckily I found a parking spot under a tree. So I had shade. Makes all the difference this time of year. The car on my left was in the sun. I’d been there about 20 minutes when a dog reared up and started barking in that car. This makes me so mad! Only one window was cracked open just a bit. Like that would help the poor thing in that oven! I know, for sure, that the dog had been in there 20 minutes because that’s how long I’d been sitting there. Who knows how much longer? I whipped out my cell phone and called 911. I was stumped as to what township I was in. Turned out to be West Lampeter. I had to back out so I could see the type of car and the license plate. The nice policeman said they’d send someone out. Wouldn’t you know? The driver came out a bare 3-4 minutes after I placed the call. She was all nice and cool with her sprayed on tan. Sheesh! So, I had to call and cancel the police. I surely would have liked to see her get caught. The dog belonged at home on a hot day.

After the dentist, we had time to kill before Olivia’s softball game. We went across the street to the Willow Street Diner and had a pretty good supper. The ball field was just a few blocks down. So, we were about an hour early for our game. Phyllis and Olivia went down to the other field where the Blaze were playing somebody. I stayed in the car and tried to knit a bit more but my eyes kept closing. So, I leaned the seat back to a comfortable recline and slept for most of that hour. It felt good.

The evening was very nice weather-wise. Soft is the word I would use to describe it. Not sticky as it will be today. Whoever Olivia’s team, the Razorbacks, were supposed to play didn’t come and forfeited the game. Same with the other team, the Nitro. The coaches decided to have a game since they were all there. I’m sure Coach Jere thought it would be good practice since the Razorbacks are leaving tomorrow for a four day softball tournament in Virginia. Supposed to be a big honking deal.

The upshot of the game last night was lop-sided. Our girls are seasoned and hand picked by Jere. He put together the best players he could get and they win more than they lose. Plus they work well together because they’ve been together for awhile. The other team had a lot of young players and they made a lot of errors. It was a pretty boring game because of the disparity. However, our girls got in a bit of practice before VA and the other girls got to play against a good team. They just have to grow into their sport.

Well, it’s off to the daily/weekly chores. I hate to use the washer/dryer in the daytime but I need some clean towels. I don’t know how that slipped by me that I ran out of clean ones. I don’t usually let that happen.

Ciao.
