As you can see, I've been knitting gloves again. This one is for Jess, my granddaughter-in-law. It's the Maine Morning Mitt I've made before. It was designed by Clara Parkes and shown in her book "The Knitter's Book of Yarn". It's a very easy fingerless glove to make as she designed it to fit either hand. Thus, you don't have to cope with making a right and a left glove. I made it about 1 1/2" longer than the pattern called for as Jess wanted it that way. It turned out very nice. I got the yarn at a LYS. The KitKnit. The lady there was very nice and helpful.
I went in to get yarn for another glove altogether. That pattern has cables and I love doing those. The sample mitten (shown above) looked good but you can't see the cables the yarn shown above. It wasn't worth all that work only to have them disappear. I do like the varigation. It doesn't stripe but produces random blobs of color. The yarn is Ella Rae Classic Print and is 100% wool. A very soft wool, I might add. It would make a lovely sweater. If there's enough left after I finish the 2nd mitten, I might make Gemma's Beret. It would make a nice set.
Olivia had her bunion removed on Wednesday afternoon over in York. It was a nice little clinic with the surgery in the lower level. Much better than walking yourself to death at the Lancaster General Health Campus. Her surgery was at 1:00 pm and took a bit over an hour. Then, recovery for an hour. I think we got out of there about 3:30 pm. O was feeling no pain and insisted on going to the Barnstormer's game that night so she could work at the vendor's. Tracey took a chair so she could keep her foot elevated and she was put in charge of the cash register.
Thursday, she was still not feeling a great deal of pain. So, she and Phyllis went to the Razorbacks season playoffs over in Elizabethtown. I think they won and have a final game tomorrow. Not sure yet.
After all that running around, Olivia finally started paying the price. She woke up early Friday morning to pain. Not just the discomfort kind either. She took her pain med and laid around all day. Friday night, she went to the cheerleading coach's house for the annual sleepover. She called me at 1:00 am to say goodnight and that she hurt. I told her to take an oxy and go to sleep. She called Phyllis around 8-9am and was in a good deal more pain. Wanted to come home. Which is where she is now. Fast asleep.
That's all I know for today. I just wanted to post a bit and show off my knit stuff.
