Pockets To Let

Well, I may be broke now but I'll be able to cook things and have clean dishes. I went to Lowe's today. Definitely to buy the stove I've been whining on about for a couple of years. Possible a dishwasher. The last was an iffy. I did my homework on the Internet for a couple of weeks. Narrowing it down to what I wanted in the price range I could afford. If price were no object, we'd be talking a whole different scenario here.

Jerry, the salesman, was surprised that I had the model # of both written on an index card. Plus I had measure the space for the stove. I decided to deal with the rocking stove by putting a thick piece of plywood down for the new stove to stand on. I don't have the money to get a new kitchen floor this year. I figure the weight of the stove should hold the plywood in place. Maybe a floor replacement next year. We'll see.

The stove was easy. I was upset that they didn't have the portable dishwashers there for me to see. They only had built-ins. That would have cost me another $500-600 for carpenter/plumber/electrician guys. Plus I would lose 2 badly needed drawers and the 2 shelves of cabinet space beneath them. The shelves I could live without but I surely would miss those drawers. One of them is my junk drawer, for crying out loud! Whoever heard of a kitchen with no junk drawer? Not me. Where would a body keep all those little bits & bobs that can't be pigeon holed as utensils or cooking stuff? Batteries, rubber bands, instructions for long-departed appliances, etc. You see my point, I'm sure.

So, here are the new appliances soon to appear in my kitchen and put everything else to shame.

If you click on the picture, it will open to a larger one where you can see the appliance better:
GE 30-Inch Freestanding Gas Range (Color: Black) Model: JGBS18DENBB

GE 24-Inch Convertible/Portable Dishwasher (Color: Black) ENERGY STAR Model: GSC3500NBB

Black, aren't they? I love black appliances.

The black looks so dark, but I'm sure they will look great in your kitchen. How fun!
