Ms. First Nighter Rides Again

It was my great pleasure to be in the audience for the dress rehearsal of this show. It is currently running at The Dutch Apple Dinner Theater in Lancaster, PA. The performers are so professional that you forget it is a dress rehearsal. As far as I was concerned, it was opening night.

I had never seen the show and, other than knowing the Bible story of Joseph and his coat of many colors, I knew nothing about the stage show. I was blown away. After seeing "The Full Monty" back in February when it began it's run, I didn't think anything could top it. The two shows are so different that they can't be compared. And I enjoyed both tremendously.

The narrator is April Monte. She is onstage and singing for much of the show as she carries the story forward. Jonathon Goodman is Joseph. The show has a large cast with 11 brothers, the father, Pharaoh and his court. Counting the children's chorus of about 16 or so kids and the stage was filled.

There is never a dull or slow moment. No talking, all singing. The show was written and produced by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Enough said. They have both done amazing things in the music theater world. Long may they reign.

The show I attended runs April 12 - June 2. If you are going to be in the Lancaster, PA area during that time, I highly recommend attending the show. The food is good and theater is small by Broadway standards (seats around 300-400. Making for a more intimate viewing. I am including the URL for the box office. You can also purchase tickets on-line.

Other than going to the play, I've just been sewing strata and cutting them apart to make the scrappy border for the Twisted Scrap quilt. I don't think it will take long if I just stick to it. But a couple of hours is all I can really do at a time. I need a new chair. My stenographer's chair has lost all it's gas and I tend to sit practically on the floor. Not very comfortable. When I stand, I have to not move for a few seconds till everything falls into place.
