March Madness

It was pretty windy around here Friday night. Howling and tearing limbs off trees sort of windy. Thankfully, it was only for about 24 hours and had died down quite a bit by the time I went to Olivia's rugby scrimmage on Saturday afternoon. It was a bit chilly but my stadium jacket was perfect against being cold. And it was sunny. I forgot my gimmee hat, so I couldn't watch the play if the sun was in my eyes. Very bright! They played 3 30 minutes halves. The first 2 were refereed by officials. The coaches decided to play another 30 minutes for the practice that both teams need. My bottom said an hour was plenty long enough to sit on bleachers. Even with a stadium seat.

I said I wanted a new knitting project and got one. Karen knitted an adorable beret that she got off the Internet and changed it up a bit so it could be knitted in the round instead of flat. I volunteered to be her guinea pig to test the instructions since she didn't want to make another one right away. After a small bobble at the beginning, I was off and running. TG I had Karen to ask questions of once in awhile. Sometimes, I read/understand things wrong. Or second guess myself and get confused. But it turned out nicely. I got Olivia to model it yesterday when I picked her up for rugby practice. I didn't realize she was wearing her mouth guard. Please ignore it. Also, her hair is thick, curly and hangs down below her shoulder blades. Hence, the big lump in the back of the hat. Here are the pictures I took in the car:

And the final news is that I got my new low-profile box spring Friday afternoon. What a difference 4 inches can make! It lowered the bed down to the perfect height for me. I can sit on the side of the bed and put my feet flat on the floor. Hooray. Now, I won't spend the next 10-15 years kicking myself for not getting the lower box spring. Be warned. Don't get the high profile mattresses/box spring sets unless you have legs like a giraffe. LOL

The beret came out very nice, Olivia has so much hair it does give it a different look. You did a great job fixing my instructions. On Ravelry I had a woman from London ask me about how I knit it in the round so I sent her my CORRECTED instruction with disclaimers.
